Boehringer Ingelheim have organised two presentations to take place this Saturday at the National Dairy Show with the first reviewing current best practices at drying off for dairy
cows and the second presentation covering current management practices and use of antibiotics to treat calf pneumonia. At 10:30am – “Drying Off – A crucial part of the dairy cow lactation cycle” will be presented by Sioned Timothy, Boehringer Ingelheim Technical Manager. She will introduce the potential negative impacts of drying off for dairy cows before presenting a review of the current best practices at drying off and describing what tools are available to farmers to support this critical phase of the lactation cycle.
At 2.00pm Sioned will also discuss “Why are we throwing money down the drain on antibiotics for calves?” with the latest information from farmer from the recent Calfmatters
survey, being used to highlight current management practices and use of antibiotics to treat calf pneumonia. Analysis of this will show the great potential for savings to be made by
honing management practices and driving vaccination of calves for BRD, as part of the #VaccinesWork campaign from RUMA.”
Each presentation takes just 30 minutes so please come along on the day to find out more.
