For the first time ever, the AXA National Dairy Show will be open to the public for two days. The new schedule adds an action packed Friday afternoon and evening programme to the event.
Big Discussions with Ivan Yates
Ivan Yates is lined up to lead the debates on Friday, the 21st of October, when the seminar programme kicks off at 2.30PM.
Ivan is perfectly positioned to dig deep into the array of topics with his broadcast experience as well as his Ministerial, political and farming background.
The highlight on Friday will be the first panel, ‘The Big Emissions Discussion - 25% targets and the way forward for dairy’. This discussion sees ICMSA President Pat McCormack and IFA President Tim Cullinan join Billy Kelleher, MEP South, to discuss the dairy sectors roadmap to achieve the 2030 25% emissions target which starts at 2.30PM sharp.
Handlers and Precision Fertiliser Demos
The show ring focus will be centred on the handlers with a total of five handler classes and a handler championship. The showing action concludes with the Jersey calf classes and the Junior Jersey championship.
The machinery demonstrations will be taking place throughout the opening hours of 2PM to 9PM. The latest precision fertiliser equipment, tractor technology and loaders will be in action throughout the Friday program.
The Dairy Social Following
The Green Glens Arena will also see the appearance of some of the best loved social media personalities on Friday evening. On the evening TikTok star Fin Walsh (116,000 followers), Youtuber Mark Collins (MC Milking It), Sophie Bell and Katie Gleeson (Katie in the country) of instagram fame will all be sharing their views on dairy’s public perceptions through social media.
Other discussions on the Friday include a focus on organic farming and whether it is a realistic option for dairy farmers (3.20PM), a realistic look at the economic sustainability of dairy beef (6.30PM) and the changing sward - the future of grazing in Ireland (7.10PM) which will focus on multi-species swards, clover and the latest worldwide research in this area.
AXA National Dairy Innovation Awards
Of course one of the other highlights of the Friday program of the AXA National Dairy Show Programme will be the AXA National Dairy Innovation Awards. The judging of this will take place through live presentations from 4.00PM to 6.30PM as well as judge one-to-ones.
This new live aspect of the AXA National Dairy Innovation Awards is a unique way to find out the very latest technologolocial, scientific and engineering breakthroughs in dairy farming.
The 2022 edition of the AXA National Dairy Innovation Awards is the eleventh running of these highly respected industry awards.
The awards reward a new product or service, which has been launched in the past 12 months, that has revolutionised some aspect of dairy farming. As well as an overall winner, there are awards in five individual categories — scientific, technology, engineering, sustainability and best start-up.
The winners will be announced as the climax to the Friday evening proceedings in the seminar section by Ivan Yates.
